Merry New Year’s Eve.

If I was a crazy actor and my last name was Eve, I'd name my first child Newyears.
Nonno e Nonna

Ahhhh. A new year. What was it The Who said? Oh yeah, “Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.”

Me… I’m glad the old boss is gone. And forgotten. And I can’t wait to meet the new boss. Sorry Roger.

This started when I was five. At my aunt and uncle’s home in Merced, California. That’s right. That Merced. The Gateway To Yosemite. Even though Yosemite was 70 miles away.

I would awaken everyday, just before dawn. My uncle already had his chores done. He was a rancher. “Kenny-Boy, livestock is always fed first.”

I had to wait an excruciating few hours more before I was set upon the world as I ran through my uncle’s gorgeous garden (Sunset magazine featured his garden in three of its issues) to my Nono’s cottage at the back of the property. Each day was the same. Pancakes for breakfast. A pasta dish and a bottle of Squirt for lunch. Every lunch. Even during the 110º summer heat.

Them were the days!!!

Tomorrow, again, are the days. I am so blessed to be participating in all of them. Still I awaken before dawn. Pancakes on rare days. Just tried pasta with marinara and a bottle of Squirt the other day. I am much better now and back on a steady diet.

My Nono was everything to me. Every. Thing. And now that I am living in Orvieto, I give homage to Andrea Federico “Carlo” Bisio by returning to his people and his land.

I leave you with “Andrea and Vittorina Bisio,” and “Moonrise, Orvieto.” Made from the living room windows at Casa Carlo. My Nono shines bright.

Happy New Year to all you LinkedInners.
